今日はみんなで朝ごはんを食べてからペドロ達をよく知る人に会いに行きました。

朝ごはんはきのうとは別のベーカリーカフェで焼き立てパンとコーヒー、しぼりたてオレンジジュース。

中にトマトやチーズが入ったおかずパンも豊富で　サンパウロにはベーカリーがたくさんあって、毎日美味しいパンが食べられました。

Today, after we all had breakfast together, we went to meet some people who knew Pedro and his friends well.

For breakfast,we went to a different bakery cafe than yesterday having freshly baked bread, coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

There was also a wide variety of side breads with tomatoes and cheese inside.

There are many bakeries in Sao Paulo, so I could eat delicious bread every day.

今天，我们一起吃完早餐后，我们去见了一些熟悉佩德罗和他的朋友的人。

早餐，我们去了一家与昨天不同的面包店咖啡馆，有新鲜出炉的面包、咖啡和鲜榨橙汁。

还有各种各样的配菜面包，里面有西红柿和奶酪。

まず訪れたのはエリコ・ロン氏（Sr.Erico Rohn）のお宅。

エリコ氏はペドロ氏と親交があった人物で、ずっと観葉植物の栽培や造園などの仕事に携わってきた方です。

広大な敷地にたくさんの温室や植物栽培場があり、庭や温室、敷地内はたくさんの珍しい植物が生い茂っていて、どこを見ても興味はつきません。

もうご高齢のため引退されていますが、今も庭は美しく手入れされていました。

敷地を市に植物園として寄付しようと活動しているそうですが、市政システムなどの問題でなかなか難しいらしく、結局は開発されて住宅地になるかもしれないとのこと。

せっかくの広大な美しい庭が受け継がれないのは本当にもったいないと思いました。

エリコ氏の持っているたくさんのトロフィーや賞状、雑誌や本の記事などを見ていると、エリコ氏がブラジルの園芸業界の先駆者として長年活動されてきたことがうかがえます。

The first place we visited was the home of Mr. Erico Rohn.

Mr. Erico was a close friend of Mr. Pedro, and has been involved in jobs such as growing ornamental plants and landscaping.

There are many greenhouses and plant cultivation areas on the vast ground of his property, and there are many rare plants growing in the gardens, greenhouses, and grounds.

I couldn’t run out of interest everywehre in his garden.

Although he has retired, his garden is still beautifully maintained.

He told me that he is trying to donate the site to the city as a botanical garden, but it seems difficult due to issues such as the city administration system, and it may end up being developed into a residential area.

I thought it would be a real shame to not be able to pass on the beautiful, vast garden that we had so much effort to.

Looking at Mr. Erico’s many trophies, awards, and articles in magazines and books, we can see that he has been active as a pioneer in the Brazilian horticulture industry for many years.

INTERVIEW WITH ERICO

エリコ氏から、’ペドロ’と’セルソ’の誕生秘話も聞くことができました。

この2つの品種は、エリコ氏がドイツ・フランクフルトの植物園から持ってきたビカクシダの胞子撒きとして生まれたそうです。

エリコ氏が持ってきて、’ペドロ’と’セルソ’の元となったビカクシダはP.veitchii ‘Frankfurt’（ビカクシダフランクフルト）。

その親株が今もエリコ氏の農場で大切に育てられていました。

エリコ氏はこのビカクシダをウィリンキーとしてドイツから持ってきており、ウィリンキーだと思うとおっしゃっていましたが、実際にはベイチーの見た目で、ボクがいただいてきた’フランクフルト’の子株も、日本で育ててみると間違いなくベイチーの姿で大きくなっているので、ベイチーに間違いないかと思います。

胞子蒔きの元となったビカクシダがベイチーだということが明らかになり、’ペドロ’と’セルソ’はベイチー由来なのではないかと思っていたボクの考えも間違っていなかったということがわかり、実際に訪れてよかったと実感しました。

We were also able to hear the secret story of the birth of ‘Pedro’ and ‘Celso’ from Mr. Erico.

These two varieties are said to have been created by spreading the spores of a platycerium that Mr. Erico brought from a botanical garden in Frankfurt, Germany.

The platycerium that Mr. Erico brought with him and which became the basis for ‘Pedro’ and ‘Celso’ is P.veitchii ‘Frankfurt’.

The mother plant of P.veitchii ‘Frankfurt’ is still being carefully grown on Mr. Erico’s farm.

Mr. Erico brought this platycerium as willinckii from Germany, and he said he thought it was willinckii, but in reality it looks like veitchii, and its pup I received there grows just as it is veitchii.

So I am quite sure that it is veitchii.

It became clear that the origin of the spore sowing was veitchii, and I realized that my idea ‘Pedro’ and ‘Celso’ might have come from veitchii was correct.

I felt glad that I visited to redognize it clearly.

我们还从Erico先生那里听到了“Pedro”和“Celso”诞生的秘密故事。

据说这两个品种是通过传播埃里科先生从德国法兰克福植物园带来的扁平菌的孢子而创造的。

Apparently, during their lifetime, Mr. Celso claimed that ‘Pedro’ and ‘Celso’ were veitchii sporing, and that Mr. Pedro was Willinckii.

After hearing about this origin, I could imagine that Mr. Celso, who was a scholar reading and researching the literature on platycerium, judged them to be veitchii, and that Mr. Pedro, who was close to Mr. Ericoo, believed Mr. Erico’s claim and called them willinckii.

显然，在他们生前，塞尔索先生声称“佩德罗”和“塞尔索”是 veitchii 孢子，而佩德罗先生是威林茨。

マルコス氏はペドロやセルソ、ダーバルに最も近い人物で、子供のころからペドロの農園に出入りしていて、三人の晩年までずっと親しくしていた方です。

エリコ氏の農園でマルコス氏と合流して、ランチの後にマルコス氏の家に遊びに行かせてもらうことになりました。

After Mr. Erico’s interview was finished, Mr. Marcos (Sr. Marcos Pinto), who had said he was not sure if he could come, decided to come.

Mr. Marcos is the person closest to Pedro, Celso, and Derval, having been frequenting Pedro’s farm since childhood, and remained close to the three of them until their later years.

We met up with Mr. Marcos at Mr. Erico’s farm, and after lunch we were allowed to go to his house.

埃里科先生的采访结束后，原本表示不确定是否能来的马科斯先生（Sr. Marcos Pinto）决定来。

马科斯先生是佩德罗、塞尔索和德瓦尔最亲近的人，从小就经常光顾佩德罗的农场，直到晚年都与他们三人保持着密切的关系。

我们在埃里科先生的农场会见了马科斯先生，午餐后我们被允许去他家。

今日もランチはエリコの家の近くの食堂で、日替わり定食。

今日は土曜日なので、フェジョアーダ（feijoada）。

フェジョアーダはブラジルの伝統料理で、肉と豆の煮込み料理です。シンプルながら深い味わいで、ファロファというふりかけのような薬味も効いていて、ボクはこれがブラジルで食べたごはんの中で一番おいしかったです。

しかもここの食堂の飲み物はセルフなのですが、選択肢がカイピリーニャ（ブラジルの国民的カクテル）、コーヒー、カシャーサ（カイピリーニャの元になるサトウキビのお酒）という三択で、みんなで昼から乾杯。

ボクはみんな大好きなカイピリーニャを。

さっぱりしていて飲みやすいカクテルです。

Today, we had the dayly set meal for lunch at a restaurant near Erico’s house.

We had feijoada for Saturday lunch.

Feijoada is a traditional Brazilian dish that is a stew of meat and beans. It had a simple but deep flavor, and the flavor seasoning called farofa was also effective.

For me,it was the best one I had eaten in Brazil.

Moreover, the drinks at this cafeteria were self-serve, and the three choices were: Caipirinha (Brazil’s national cocktail), coffee, and Cachaça (the sugarcane alcoholic beverage from which Caipirinha is made), and we all toasted from noon.

I had Caipirinha which everyone likes.

A refreshing and easy-drinking cocktail.

今天，我们午餐在Erico家附近的一家餐厅吃了每日套餐。

周六午餐我们吃了 feijoada。

Feijoada 是一道传统的巴西菜肴，是肉和豆类的炖菜。味道简单而深沉，名为farofa的调味料也很有效。

对我来说，这是我在巴西吃过的最好的一顿。

我喝了大家都喜欢的凯匹林纳鸡尾酒。

マルコスは子供のころからずっとペドロやセルソの農園に出入りしていたそうで、晩年のペドロの面倒を看た唯一の人物だそう。

ペドロやセルソから受け継いだ植物を今もたくさん持っていて、彼の証言から、’ペドロ’や’セルソ’の名前の由来やタツタ氏との関係などいろいろなことが明らかになりました。

特にセルソ氏については、一番早くに亡くなったのと、とても控えめな人だったようで、詳しい情報が得られずにいたのですが、マルコス氏は特にセルソ氏と仲が良かったようで、たくさんのことを語ってくれました。

Marcos had been visiting Pedro and Celso’s farm ever since he was a child, and was the only person who took care of Pedro in his later years.

He still has many plants inherited from Pedro and Celso, and his testimony has revealed many things, including the origin of the names ‘Pedro’ and ‘Celso’ and their relationship with Mr. Tatsuta.

In particular, detailed information about Mr. Celso was difficult to obtain as he was the first to die and seems to have been a very reserved person, but Mr. Marcos seems to have been particularly close to Mr. Celso. He told me a lot of things.

马科斯从小就经常拜访佩德罗和塞尔索的农场，也是唯一照顾佩德罗晚年的人。

他仍然拥有许多从佩德罗和塞尔索继承的植物，他的证词揭示了很多事情，包括“佩德罗”和“塞尔索”名字的由来以及他们与龙田先生的关系。

Also, along with Mr. Pedro, Mr. Celso, and Mr. Derval, Mr. Anatolio often came up.

Mr. Anatolio was also a good friend of the three, but according to Mr. Erico, unfortunately he lost himself with alcohol afterwards.

Mr. Marcos and Mr. Erico are also old friends, and they were both close to Pedro, Celso, and Derval, so hearing them talking brought back memories of those days.

It became a gathering of really friendly plant friends.

此外，除了佩德罗先生、塞尔索先生和德尔瓦尔先生之外，阿纳托里奥先生也经常出现。

阿纳托里奥先生也是三人的好朋友，但据埃里科先生说，不幸的是他后来喝醉了。

地球の反対側でもこうして趣味家さんと繋がれたのはとてもうれしかったです。

I could also meet a boy who was a fan of vandaka plants came to see me.

I was very happy to be able to connect with hobbyists even on the other side of the world.

我还遇到了一个喜欢万达卡植物的男孩来看我。

我很高兴能够与来自世界另一端的爱好者建立联系。

マルコスが思いがけず来てくれたおかげで、たくさんの新しい事実を聞くことができ今回の訪問がとても実りあるものになりました。

マルコスは近年健康上の問題があって、今日来られるかわからないと聞いていたので、来てくれて本当にうれしかったです。

彼が元気になって、ビカクシダを育てる新しい仲間とともに植物談義を続けて行ってくれることを、心から願っています。

マルコスはペドロとセルソに一番近かった人物で、その分、ペドロが亡くなってから彼の農園が人の手に渡っていき、植物が安く売りさばかれていく過程を見て、かなりつらい思いをしたようでした。

そんな彼がペドロのことを思い出して農園に行ってみたという話をするときも、「サウダージ」という言葉でその気持ちを表現していました。

そこには、単純に懐かしいというだけではない、切なくて物悲しい気持ちが込められていました。

Thanks to Marcos’ visit, I was able to learn many new facts, which made this visit very fruitful.

I heard that Marcos had been having health problems in recent years and wasn’t sure if he would be able to come today, so I was really happy that he came.

I sincerely hope that he gets well and continues to talk about plants with his new friends who grow platyceriums.

Marcos was the person closest to Pedro and Celso, so it was quite painful for him to see Pedro’s farm go into the hands of others after Pedro’s death, and the plants being sold at incredibly low prices.

When he talked about how he remembered Pedro and went to the farm, he used the word “saudade” to express his feelings.

It was not just nostalgic, it was filled with a sad and melancholy feeling.

ラファエルはダーバルの息子さんなので、子供のころからダーバルの植物好きを身近で見ていて、ペドロやセルソもしょっちゅう家に来て一緒にシュラスコをしたりしていたのだそうです。

ギリェルメとラファエルがダーバルのことを話すとき、本当に懐かしそうに話していて、みんなの人気者で楽しい人だったダーバルがしのばれました。

ダーバルやペドロセルソたちの話などたくさん聞きながら、みんなでピザを食べて、夜遅くまで盛り上がりました。

Since Rafael is Durval’s son, he has seen Durval’s love of plants up close since he was a child, and Pedro and Celso often come to his house and play churrasco with him.

When Guilherme and Rafael talked about Durval, they spoke with great fondness, and I was reminded of Durval, who was everyone’s favorite and fun person.

We all ate pizza and had a great time until late into the night, listening to many stories of Durval, Pedro Celso, and others.
